Service with a Smile

He’s a degenerate and everybody knows it, and yet, his ways are tolerated for the sake of money. Ginna was stuck waiting on him last week, and every time she went over to the table to see if he needed something, he always manages to touch her somewhere on her body and he always “needed” something. He thinks this is a strip club. His tips are double the norm, but who cares. He can shove that 30 percent up his ass. We’ve complained to management over and over, but it’s like this man has some kind of power over them.

Dave: I hear you. I can put in a complaint with the general manager.

Tina: I’m not here to complain. I’m letting you know that all the women server staff are quitting, effective immediately.

Tina walks out the office. Dave follows.

Dave: Tina, wait a minute.

A dozen female employees are standing outside the office with angry faces and arms crossed.

Dave: Please ladies, let’s talk about this.

Tina: Talk then Dave.

Dave: Uh…

Tina: Bye boy.

The women walk out. Dave looks defeated.

I’m Hannah Erica, a Philly native and the writer for this website. I received my Bachelor’s in Communications with a Journalism certificate from the University of Phoenix. I came from a big family, and growing up we didn’t have many material things to play with, so our creative sides came out. As a child I would write skits that my siblings and I acted out, and I would write children's books to read to my younger siblings. More than a decade ago a started writing film scripts and completed two. It's a tough business to get work published, so I put the film script writing on the back burner and I write short stories that I publish on my own website. 1. Thanks. No excerpts. Short stories with surprise endings.

  2. Is this an excerpt? Is there a place to read the rest? The hook was fantastic and the dialogue set up was rather slick and realistic. I would love to have more.
